Started, 20 years ago, in 2006, it was formed to bring people together after many concerns about the changes to the Lawson village including the highway widening. It continued in a variety of ways until 2020, supported by the Mid Mountains Neighbourhood Centre.

Why a festival?

Because community matters. In a time when the wider world can feel tough and disconnected, this is a chance to focus local—on connection, creativity, and supporting one another.

We’re hoping to:

• Celebrate what we love about living in Lawson
• Give young people things to do and showcase their talents
• Support and promote local businesses
• Celebrate local performers and artists
• Connect with First Nations people and their knowledge of this area
• Celebrate the cultural diversity of the Mountains Community
• Celebrate the magnificent environment around Lawson
• Share places for citizen science, nature, picnics, turtles 🐢 and frogs 🐸)
• Bring together sports clubs, volunteers, and community groups
• Share local history (including the mystery of Christmas Swamp!)
• Strengthen connection and reduce isolation
